McMaster Entrepreneurship Academy

The Office of the Vice-President, Research (OVPR), the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), and the McMaster Industry Liaison Office (MILO) have established the McMaster Entrepreneurship Academy – a new initiative designed to enhance McMaster’s unique entrepreneurial training, research and translation pipeline.

The Entrepreneurship Academy hosts a series of programs that inspire, support, and reward established and aspiring McMaster entrepreneurs as they work to transform their research breakthroughs into high-value products and services.

Initiatives

McMaster Startup Internships (MSI) Apply for MSI

MSI gives students a chance to support real business ventures, gain valuable entrepreneurship experience and make lasting career connections.

McMaster Student Seed Fund Apply for the Seed Fund

The Student Seed Fund provides student and recent alumni startup founders with $10,000 in funding and access to hands-on mentorship to fast-track their company growth.

Professor Entrepreneur Fellowship Professor Entrepreneur Fellowship

The Professor Entrepreneur Fellowship releases full-time faculty who have started companies that involve McMaster intellectual property (IP) from teaching one course or equivalent for one year.

Postdoc Entrepreneur Fellowship Postdoc Entrepreneur Fellowship

The Postdoc Entrepreneur Fellowship provides one year of salary support to postdoctoral fellows, giving them more time to focus on commercializing their research through venture creation.

Innovation Matchmaking Innovation Matchmaking

The Innovation Matchmaking program connects research teams from across campus and/or affiliated hospitals and provides them with an equivalent of $75,000 in prep-funding that can be used to build investable ventures.

Mentorship Mentorship

Our mentorship programs connect entrepreneurs with peer mentors, investors, advisors, and industry leaders to help them grow their businesses.

Lab Space

McMaster startup companies will have access to shared facilities at a flat rate to help them develop proof of concepts and prototypes.
