Youth, Young Adult Participation and Environment Measure (Y-PEM)

""

Summary

The Y-PEM was created in response to requests for a tool that was more appropriate for Youth and can be completed by youth. The lead author, Dana Anaby, has conceived the idea of developing a measure, that covers the entire age range of transitioning to adulthood, ages 12 to 30, and adding a new section to assess the workplace domain.

The Youth, Young Adult Participation and Environment Measure (Y-PEM) is a self-reported measure that evaluates participation and the impact of the environment on participation across 4 settings: home, school/educational setting, community, and the workplace. It includes 31 sets of activities, and 67 items pertain to the environment. The Y-PEM is inspired by the PEM-CY: Participation and Environment Measure for Children and Youth which is a parent-report tool that includes 25 types and activities and 42 environmental items across 3 settings: home, school, community, and is intended for younger individuals aged 5 to 17.
