Organizations across academic and healthcare settings increasingly recognize the importance of advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous reconciliation (EDI-IR), yet often face challenges translating these commitments into consistent operational practices. The Equity-Minded Guide (EMG) was developed drawing upon literature and best practices to support the practical implementation of equity principles across institutional decision-making.
The EMG provides a framework organized across six domains: hiring, inclusive leadership, education, policy, research, and support for equity-deserving groups. It combines practical tools, reflection prompts, case studies, and governance-aligned practices to help leaders, faculty, and staff operationalize equity commitments.
Unlike stand-alone training programs or policy documents, the EMG embeds equity considerations into ongoing governance and workflow structures. The EMG supports institutional planning, leadership development, organizational change, and continuous improvement across academic and healthcare settings.
