With the release of the TCPS2: CORE-2022 tutorial from the Panel on Research Ethics, the MREB Secretariat has determined that the McMaster Research Ethics Tutorial should be retired. The McMaster tutorial was similar to the older version of the TCPS2 CORE tutorial and is now out of date. Additionally, the new version of the TCPS2 CORE tutorial is much improved on the previous version, now focusing more strongly on the TCPS2 principles and requirements. McMaster researchers and students who would normally have taken the McMaster Research Ethics Tutorial, should instead take the TCPS2: CORE-2022 tutorial (completion of the CORE tutorial does provide a certificate).
Instructors and Students: If the McMaster Research Ethics Tutorial was assigned as part of your course completion, we recommend substituting the TCPS2: CORE-2022 tutorial for the assignment.
Researchers and Students outside of Canada: We know that some institutions outside of Canada directed students/researchers to complete the McMaster tutorial. You could switch to the TCPS2: CORE-2022 tutorial, but note that although this tutorial does cover general research ethics principles, it also focuses on the specific ethics requirements in the TCPS2 for the Canadian research context.
