Description:
The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) is now accepting applications for the June Partnership Engage Grants (PEGs) competition. These grants are expected to respond to the objectives of Research partnerships program. They provide short-term, timely support for partnered research activities that directly inform decision-making at a single non-academic partner organization (public, private, or not-for-profit).

When can Applicants Apply?
You may apply for one Partnership Engage Grant per calendar year. Current PEG holders can reapply only after their grant end date.
2026 Competition Cycles: March 16, June 15, September 15, and December 15
Eligibility:

Proposals can involve any discipline, thematic area, approach or subject area eligible for SSHRC funding. See subject matter eligibility

INELIGIBLE projects include: Curriculum development; program evaluation; preparation of teaching materials; organization of a conference/workshop organization; digitization of a collection or database creation

Only one partner organization permitted (Canadian or international; public, private, or not-for-profit).

Postsecondary institutions and scholarly associations are not eligible as partner organizations.

Partner must be independent (arm’s length) from the applicant and academic institution.
Not eligible if the applicant:

Owns or is employed by the partner organization (salaried or not)

Is related to someone who controls or is a member of a governing board that controls the partner organization.

While cash and/or in-kind contributions are not mandatory, partner organizations are expected to support the activities of the partnership through these contributions.

A salary research allowance can be requested in the budget for a Canadian not-for-profit organization involved in the partnership with a co-applicant on the team, to release them from duties to their organization.

Researchers involved in formal partnerships that have more than one partner organization are encouraged to apply for Partnership Development Grants or Partnership Grants.
Application/Nomination Process:
By May 11, 2026: Email ROADS to confirm intent to apply.
By May 25, 2026 (9:00 AM)*: Email draft application, and the partner letter of support to ROADS.
By June 8, 2026 (9:00 AM)*: Submit your final application through the SSHRC portal for administrative review . Submit a completed, signed Application Approval Form to ROADS.
By June 15, 2026 (4:30 PM): ROADS will submit the application to SSHRC.
* Note: Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Applications submitted after this time may not receive a full review and will be reviewed as time allows.
