    Description:

    This initiative is designed to support academic research in the natural sciences and engineering disciplines to inform the regulation and development of small modular reactors in Canada. It aims to address key research needs that align with CNSC’s mandate to protect health, safety, security, and the environment.

    Letter of Intent (LOI) DeadlineJuly 17, 2025, by 8:00 p.m. (ET).

    LOIs are mandatory and will be used by NSERC and CNSC to determine proposal alignment with program objectives.

    Application deadline (only if invited): November 6, 2025.

    To help support applications to this call, the Faculty of Engineering is hosting an information session on Monday June 30 from 1-2:30 PM in JHE-H324, followed by networking at the Phoenix from 2:30 – 5:00 PM. The session will include an overview of the program, a presentation by a Phase I recipient, and a roundtable discussion. Full details will be made available ahead of the event.
