Description:
Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA) supports research collaborations between Canada and eligible countries and regions. Under the joint supervision of a home and host professor, successful senior undergraduate students, graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows will receive a $6,000 research award to conduct a 12- to 24-week research project in the other country. Awards are subject to available funding.
The new and simplified GRA program features important changes, some of which are detailed below:
- Only two streams: allocation and quantum. The program will no longer be co-delivered with international partners. Instead, Mitacs will fully fund all projects.
- Allocation stream: participating universities will receive an allocation of internship units (IUs). Co-funding is not required
- Quantum stream: open to all universities. No IUs limit per university and does not count in the allocation. Co-funding is not required
- Each intern is now allowed a maximum of two IUs per academic lifetime (across projects)
- Increased project duration: two years
