Description:
The New Research Collaboration Program is open to all research fields and provides financing for new scientific projects jointly developed by French and Canadian teams that have never worked together before. The program aims to accomplish the following objectives:
- Support the development of new research partnerships between France and Canada;
- Promote the advancement of research and innovation;
- Prepare and structure scientific cooperation between the two countries;
- Promote researchers’ mobility, particularly for early career researchers; and
- Provide research training for researchers at the master’s and doctorate levels.
Eligibility:
Applications must come from two principal investigators (PIs), both from research institutions located in France and Canada. The FCRF endorses new research collaborations between PIs who have never obtained a research joint funding prior to this application. Exceptions may be granted for researchers who previously collaborated during their PhD or during a postdoctoral fellowship. PIs must meet all the following criteria:
- Must hold a tenure or a tenure-track position;
- FRACE: be affiliated with higher education institutions or public research organizations;
- CANADA: Affiliated to one of the 24 Canadian universities who are members of the FCRF consortium (McMaster is a consortium member).
Teams not selected in 2026 that wish to apply again must inform the Embassy of France in Canada at the time of submitting their new application.
Application/Nomination Process:
Notify ROADS of your intent to apply by October 29, 2026. The application form and guide are attached to this funding announcement.
Applications are due to ROADS for content review on November 10, 2026. Final applications must be submitted to ROADS by November 27, 2026.
The FCRF program has limited the number of applications that may be submitted by McMaster University to five (5). Applications submitted by November 27, 2026 will undergo an internal review process and those selected will be forwarded to the FCRF on January 08, 2027 for further consideration by a joint Canada-France committee.
