Description:

The “Enhancing industry-university collaboration with CSA funding for HQP training (EIUC)” seeks to support industry-academia collaborative space research projects through Canadian Universities for projects that have already received an NSERC Alliance Grant under the NSERC – Alliance Grants Program and are either about to begin or are still underway.

The research projects selected for an EIUC grant will contribute to the development of new scientific knowledge in the space sector and/or space technologies or technologies with potential applications in the space sector, while making it possible for students to acquire experience that will favor sustainability and growth of the Canadian space sector. Eligibility:

  • Eligible Recipients:Canadian Universities, for a project that has received a grant under the NSERC – Alliance Grants Program
  • Maximum Timeframe of the Project: 5 years (not exceeding the length of the Alliance grant)

Application/Nomination Process:

Estimated Projects Start Date: Multiple dates based on yearly evaluation deadlines (see below).

Due Dates: Applications for round one are accepted until December 16, 2022, at 1pm (ET). Thereafter, applications are accepted every first Monday in May and October, as per the schedule below. The CSA will continue to accept applications following all submission deadlines until the AO closing date of October 2024. All applications received following a submission deadline will be evaluated in the next round of evaluations, until all funds have been awarded.

Submission Details:

  • Please submit a sponsored project checklist to MILO ahead of submission of the application. Please be sure to include overhead into your budget. As per the grant guidelines, overhead is 10%.
  • Applications are submitted electronically.
  • Submit an account creation request using the Electronic Proposal Portal. Please note that Google Chrome is the browser of choice for submissions. Supported browsers are Google Chrome and Edge with some restrictions.
  • In the “Proposal title” field of the Electronic Proposal Portal, please use the following formatting standard: EIUC_Name Of Institution_Last name of PI (e.g. EIUC_ McMaster University_Smith)..
  • In the “Organization” section, under “Type”, please select “Canadian university or post-secondary institution”.
  • The “Applicant” section should contain the contact information for the PI.
  • Allow up to 72 hours for the CSA to send an email confirming the account creation as well as instructions (user guide) on how to access the platform.
  • Using the temporary password assigned by the CSA, login to the secured portal to upload protected documents.
