Summit Overview

Monday, November 17, 2014
Ron Joyce Centre, Burlington
McMaster University

The changing global economy has organizations of all types identifying ways to increase their competitive advantage through improved efficiencies, quality, productivity and sustainability.

Research and innovation are critical to Canada’s competitiveness as we move from a traditional manufacturing base to an advanced manufacturing base – a shift some have described as the most disruptive since the Industrial Revolution.

Building on the insights gained from the 2012 Forum Adding Value: Canada as a Platform for Global Manufacturing -- McMaster University, in cooperation with the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME), is hosting a one-day, invitation-only Advanced Manufacturing Summit.

The Summit will bring together thought-leaders from business, government and academia for a frank discussion on the requisite actions needed to ensure we are well positioned to capitalize on the opportunities presented in this new era.

Summit Objectives

  • Identify important needs and emerging areas of interest that can benefit from recent developments in advanced manufacturing
  • Provide a forum for networking and exchanging ideas and best practices
  • Identify and examine opportunities and methods for translating innovations in research to industry
  • Explore Public–Private-Partnership (PPP) synergies to support the transformation from research to industrial and government activities
