Dear Members of the Research Community,
I am happy to be able to provide you with some clarity regarding how human research participants can engage in both on-campus and fieldwork studies. Under the University’s vaccine policy, research participants who are not otherwise part of the McMaster community are considered “volunteers,” and should follow the associated directives.
For all information and reference materials (including updated templates for COVID Letters of Information) please refer to the Summary of McMaster University COVID-19 Requirements for In-Person On-Campus Human Participant Research and the Summary of McMaster University COVID-19 Requirements for In-Person Fieldwork Research with Human Participants. Also, please refer to the McMaster Research Ethics Board FAQs as these continue to be updated, and do not hesitate to reach out to me, your V/ADR or your ethics board staff if you have any additional questions.
A huge thank you to our colleagues in MREB and HiREB, the Office of Legal Services, and Environmental & Occupational Health Support Services, for their help ensuring that all those involved in our research studies continue to be safe.
Thank you for your patience and I do hope your fall semester is going well.
Stay safe,
Karen Mossman
Vice-President, Research
