Expandable List

An intellectual process or creative endeavour, that for research purposes, uses data, computing, and/or digital technology to generate knowledge or share information. 

Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) allows us to work with data and computation efficiently, considerately, and securely across communities, organizations, and opportunities.

Building blocks of Digital Research Infrastructure include:  

    • large-scale computing facilities, including high-throughput, high-performance, and cloud computing 
    • data storage, including facilities, repositories, and backup 
    • data management, including stewardship, access, and security considerations 
    • software, software development, and shared code libraries 
    • mechanisms for access, including networks and user authentication systems
    • people, including the researchers, communities, users, and support teams who develop, maintain, and use these powerful resources

AskResearch is a collaborative network of support units providing accessible and effective digital research services to the McMaster research community. AskResearch is coordinated by the Digital Research Commons Pilot (DRCP). 

The McMaster research community includes faculty (full-time and contract), students (graduate and undergraduate), research support units, research coordinators, staff, alumni, and community members who conduct and/or support research at McMaster University.
