McMaster to use study on researchers’ mental health to create better supports
You may recall that I had tapped into McMaster’s own expertise and asked Dr. Marisa Young, Canada Research Chair in Mental Health and Work-Life Transitions and associate professor, Sociology, to conduct a research study on the impact of COVID-19 on McMaster’s research community.
Dr. Young and her team have completed their study and, while I’m pleased to share those results with you, I’m certainly not pleased with the findings. Sadly, they’re not surprising, but these data are so important to our ability to move forward.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the survey and/or joined the roundtables. Your candid responses will go a long way in helping us to create solutions and programs that address equity, productivity and the mental health and well-being of our research and broader community.
Read the Brighter World news article on Dr. Young’s report.
I hope you’re enjoying Reading Week.
