Research Involving Humans: Annual Research Ethics Workshop
DATE: Monday January 13, 2020 – 9:00 a.m. -12:00 noon
LOCATION: CIBC Hall – 3rd Floor, McMaster University Student Centre
This morning seminar will cover ethical issues related to research involving human participants and gives graduate students a chance to talk to the REBs to get practical advice about how to prepare an ethics application form.
PRESENTATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS INCLUDE:
– Principles of Ethics in Human Research by Dr. Lisa Schwartz, Arnold L. Johnson Chair in Health Care Ethics, Professor, Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact
– A Case Study: Review and small group discussion of an actual ethics proposal for research involving humans facilitated by Research Ethics Board members and staff
– Question & Answer period with the chairs of McMaster’s 2 REBs (HiREB and MREB) regarding students research projects
Light refreshments provided at 8:30 AM
Co-hosted by McMaster’s two Research Ethics Boards and the School of Graduate Studies.
